It’s the start of a New Year. Many of us are busy making (or trying to keep) New Year’s Resolutions.

One resolution I made this year was to do a better job keeping my marriage as a top priority. One way I hope to do that is to communicate more with Keith. And by “communicate,” I mean really communicate. Talk about things that matter, not just about what is going on throughout the week.

To help with that, I made a list of discussion starters. I thought you might be interested in these as well.

Discussion Starters for Married Couples:

1. What is your favorite childhood memory and why?

2. Who was your favorite teacher as a child?

3. What is one thing your parents did well?

4. What is one thing you would like to do differently?

5. As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

6. What do you think is your greatest strength?

7. What do you think is your greatest weakness?

8. What can I do to encourage you this week?

9. What is one thing you appreciate about our relationship?

10. What is one thing you would like to improve in our relationship?

11. If you could go anywhere in the world and money wasn’t an issue, where would you go?

12. If I could buy you three things (again, money is not an issue), what would they be?

13. What is the best gift I’ve ever given you? Why?

14. What could we do to spice up our life in the bedroom?

15. What are three things about me (my body, personality, or whatever) you like most?

16. What do you want our life to look like five years from now?

17. Who is your closest friend and why?

18. What is your greatest fear?

19. If you could do anything and you knew you wouldn’t fail, what would you do?

20. What can I pray for you about this week?

Let’s talk: Any other fun discussion starters you’d add to the list?
