Today, September 1st, and continuing through the end of the month, I’m exciting to begin a challenge that will hopefully make me (and you!) better moms!
Here’s how it will work: Every Monday, I’ll post a new (very do-able) challenge here on my blog. I’ll also talk about the challenge on my Facebook Author Page throughout the week.
We’ll hold each other accountable and make steps each week to become better parents.
But don’t worry about anyone making you feel guilty if you neglect to follow through on any of the challenges. There will be NONE of that here! Instead, there will be encouragement and reminders that even if we fail (and we will!), if we are doing ONE thing better today than we did yesterday, we are making progress. And that’s worth celebrating!
So who’s in?! Leave a comment on this post to let me know you are joining in the challenge. (And you never know…there just might be some fun giveaways to encourage participation!)
Now, for our first assignment…
WEEK 1 CHALLENGE: Spend Time with God Before You Do Anything Else
Try your very best to spend time reading your Bible first thing in the morning. I know with little ones, this can be tricky. (And if it doesn’t happen, don’t beat yourself up about it. Instead, try to find another time to get into the Word that day).
BUT, if you can, open your Bible first thing each morning. I say this for 3 reasons:
1. Your day will likely go MUCH better if you allow the Holy Spirit to fill you first thing.
2. God is worth it. He’s more important than my email or my Facebook notifications. I say I worship Him with my life, so the least I can do is show Him by giving Him the first few moments of my day.
3. We need it. Being a mom is HARD. In my own skin, I am selfish, impatient, and have a tendency to yell if I get frustrated. That’s why I need God’s Spirit to fill me each and every day.
Begin your day with this prayer, “Lord Jesus, fill me with your Spirit today.” Then, watch as His Spirit overflows from your life into the lives of your children.
Will you join me this week in spending time with God first thing? If so, leave a comment on this post.
And don’t forget…there might be some fun giveaways as this challenge gets going! But you’ll only be able to win if you get involved and let me know you are participating!
I’m all in.

Lindsey, I’m in friend! I had a good quiet time this morning but not quite as much as I wanted. First thing is hard because my brain takes a little bit to wake up but if I wait to long it seems that those are the days the girls wake up early and my time gets cut short.
Great and challenging word!!
Here’s to trying!
This sounds awesome! I am so excited to give this a shot! 🙂
I’ll start first thing in the morning! 🙂
I’m always looking for ways to become a better mom.
Looking forward to this challenge
This is a wonderful challenge! I love this first weeks challenge. I try really hard to read my bible when I first get up, but the summer months have gotten me off that plan. Thank you for this challenge. I look forward to seeing what it coming up. I am in!!
