I’m not a crafty mom.
Anyone who knows me knows I’m not very creative.
Organized, yes. But creative, not in the least.
This year, though, when my son told me he wanted a “tire” birthday party, I was determined to make it fun.
Here’s what we came up with…
We started with a tire cake. It was just a store-bought chocolate cake that I cooked in two 8 inch circle pans. I made the icing myself and then colored a large portion of it black. I printed off a picture of a tire as a guide to help me make the design.
My sister-in-law showed me some simple cake-decorating tricks, and I bought a basic cake decorating kit from Hobby Lobby.
It wasn’t perfect, but I was happy with it.
We also served chocolate donuts, aka Luigi’s Casa Della Tires. I used a dow rod (that I cut to the height I needed) to make the donuts stack well. I downloaded the printables from this blog (which also has some amazing party ideas!)
We had a tire cleaning station, aka Red’s Hose Down. I bought the inflatable tires from The Dollar Tree and used rags and a bucket we already had.
We had a bean bag toss too with an old tire we had never gotten rid of.
For drinks, I made some kool-aid and labeled my pitcher “Fillmore’s Organic Fuel.”
The party was a success, and I wasn’t overwhelmed with party-planning. If you’re looking for even more fun Cars ideas, the website I mentioned above has some great suggestions!
