The Easter That Broke Me…Plus a Gift For You

Fourteen years ago this week, I should have been giving birth to our second child.

They were due right around Easter.

Instead, that Easter became the first time I mourned a child I couldn’t wait to hold. It was our first miscarriage—and it shattered me.

For years after that, Easter was hard. Everyone else was celebrating resurrection and new life, while I was quietly grieving what might have been.

I wondered: Why didn’t God intervene? Why didn’t He fix this?

Even now, I don’t have all the answers. But here’s what I’ve come to believe with my whole heart:

Easter is exactly what my heart needed.

Because Easter reminds me that God is in the business of making broken things whole. Of breathing life into what feels hopeless. Of resurrecting what was lost.

And because of Jesus, I know I’ll get to see my babies again someday.

That’s the power of the cross—not just for eternity, but for our today.
For the days when the pain is fresh.
For the moments when God feels silent.
For the seasons when faith feels like a fight.

If that’s where you are right now, then my publisher and I created something just for you.
